"Kaleere" is one of the most interesting piece of jewellery that every punjabi bride wears at the day of her wedding. After the "Chooda" has been worn, the bride's family ties the Kaleeras on each hand to a bangle. Bijis and other granny's will say that this ornament signifies blessings and good wishes. But, the popular saying to Kaleeras is, after the wedding the bride shakes the Kaleeras on the head of unmarried girls of the family...the lucky one on whom a part of the Kaleera falls will be the one getting married next !!
Over the years with the advent of human race and fashion, this piece of jewellery has also evolved and can be found in various shapes and sizes. Bur for my wedding, I just wished to wear this jewellery in it's tradional form. The actual "Lottan Kaleere" from Patiala.
As a personal experience, this one piece of jewellery really made me feel soooooo married and like a princess...coz u really can't do much of normal work after u have this on both your hands ;-) And everybody's there for your help at just a blink of an eye.
